A unique opportunity has arisen to join the Adult Sandyford Gender Identity Clinic for a fixed term period for 2 yearsas a sfsfsfs Consultant Clinical Psychologist. TheSandyford GIC is a highly specialist, multi-disciplinary team of Psychiatrists,Medical Practitioners, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapist andCounsellors. The GIC accepts referrals from a number of health board areasin Scotland for individuals who are experiencing concerns in relation to genderidentity and is the largest of its kind nationally. The service is located inSandyford Sexual Health Service and forms part of the wider gender identity service, including the children's and young person's gender services, with whom there are good links. Clinical psychology are central to the team and the post offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in a Consultant role, working with clients experiencing gender incongruence and to contribute to the psychological care provided within the MDT.


As a Consultant Clinical Psychologist you will lead the clinical psychology inputinto the adult GIC team and will provide supervision and professionalmanagement to an Ba Clinical Psychologist.You will provide highlyspecialist clinical psychology assessments prior to initiation of hormonetreatment and gender reassignment surgeries, in line with the National GenderReassignment Protocol. You will have the opportunity to shape Scotland-widepolicy on gender identity care and to link with a network of UK basedpsychologists. You will provide training and consultation to multidisciplinarycolleagues, clinical psychologists in training and medical undergraduates. Youwill conduct service development, audit and contribute developing researchthemes within the service.


Applicants from HCPC-registered clinical psychologists with substantial post­qualification experience would be welcomed. A clinical background in adult mental health or clinical health psychology (or related specialisms) would bebeneficial. A particular interest in transgender issues would be advantageous to the applicant.
